He Loves Me (Painting) From the Artist: "This painting is about the Savior's love for a child. Children are innocent and pure. Each child in this painting has an expression which I believe shows their acknowledgement that He loves them. Of course, Jesus loves all children regardless of race or color, but these are my children in this painting and that makes it special to me."

Old Schoolhouse (Painting) From the Artist: "My mother taught first grade for many years. She would always ask me, "When are you going to paint an old schoolhouse?" After a visit down to southern Utah to the old town of Grafton, I saw an old schoolhouse which inspired this painting. I wanted this old school to look like every old pioneer schoolhouse which ever was. The school teacher stands on the front steps as her students play. I believe when children are playing they are also learning. But soon the it will be time to come inside for some book learning. How many children are in her class? Without counting the woman on the path, can you find thirteen children?"

Summer Holiday (Painting) From the Artist: "What is a summer holiday without a fresh slice of cool watermelon? A couple of children playing in the yard with the stars and stripes proudly hung from the porch. As I was returning from the 4th of July Parade last summer I saw a scene that inspired this painting. It sure is great to be an American!"

The Real George Washington The True Story Of America's Most Indispensable Man (Book)
From the back cover: Why, after two centuries, does George Washington remain one of the most beloved figures in our history? The Real George Washington answers that question by giving us a close look at this man who became the "father of our country" and the first American President. But rather than focus on the interpretations of historians, the book tells much of his exciting story in his own words. In part one you'll meet a man who-lost his father at age 11 and nearly joined the British navy at 15. -was ambushed in the French and Indian War, receiving bullets through his coat and hat but escaping without injury. -held together a destitute army through the long and terrible winter at Valley Forge. -resisted plans to make him king and an army plot to take over the government. -made the Constitutional Convention credible by his presence and helped win ratification of the Constitution support. -sacrificed his desire for a quiet retirement to serve as the first President, and, while serving, set a valuable precedent of constitutional governance. Part two of the book brings together the most important and insightful passages from Washington's writings, conveniently arranged in alphabetical order by subject matter.
