A brief perusal of the writings of the founding fathers reveals that they gave unequivocal acknowledgement to a Supreme power that governed mankind. Specifically, that He:
- Was the protector in the cause of the Revolution
- Was the overseer in inspiring the emerging frame of government
- Desired that the hand of Providence be acknowledged by future generations in maintaining the cause of liberty and in the strengthening of families.
